That's a great concept, you can never go wrong with a good escape room! Although I think I didn't feel the sense of a chase or rush as much as I would feel it if I were a spy escaping the ultra-secret lab. Adding timed choices would make me more relatable to the character.
I really liked the mechanic where you keep adding until you reach the given number; it made me feel like I was hacking the mechanical safe lock! Another thing you could look into to expand your game is to explore simple interactions that simulate certain processes related to your concept - spying, breaking in, or hacking.
I think that implementing a "punishment" mechanism for getting the code wrong would have been a great addition, enhancing the game's engagement. Instead of providing a list of possible answers, a textbox to accept answers would also have been nice. I quite liked the add and subtract buttons, though.
very interesting concept, I think this is a perfectly something you could introduce in the elementary school math class, may with series of math questions but with a time limit.
This is very interesting! I love the whole puzzle-solving aspect, though just seeing the math question made me a bit nervous. It fits well with the theme. I wonder what it would feel like if you added a timer to create some extra tension.
Great work! The functionality of the puzzles is great. I wonder about having a counter or something of mistakes, so that the player only has a certain number of chances before they can't escape at all -- adding a clear consequence to failing the puzzles could make this more intense! I had no issues with the adding/subtracting code that others mentioned in the comments
The concept of this game is very interesting! As for the music, I recommend some futuristic technology music to match the theme of the laboratory. I like the brain games in the game, but it is these seemingly simple games that test intelligence the most. For me personally, I can add some more puzzles like this to increase the challenge of the game.
It was a fun experience! The math messed with my head, but PEMDAS ftw, I echo the same issue about the add or subtract one, where we are stuck in the infinite loop of counting.Apart from that it was a fun concept!
I've noticed that the add or subtract button is still there after finishing the final math problem, and when you keep adding or subtracting, you get stuck on a page that just says
"final code= 5+3=7
final code= 5+3=7"
Otherwise the concept of this is very interesting and fun! I found the puzzles to be very simple and it made me wish I felt more of a sense of urgency when completing the puzzles.
